続きまして第05回目はﾌﾗﾜｰｱﾚﾝｼﾞや切枝で人気！銀世界ﾕｰｶﾘとも呼ばれるﾕｰｶﾘ･ﾌﾟﾙﾍﾞﾙﾚﾝﾀです｡◎ﾕｰｶﾘ･ﾌﾟﾙﾍﾞﾙﾚﾝﾀ【学名：Eucalyptus pulverulenta】【英名：Silver-leaved Mountain Gum】たまたまﾄﾞﾗｲﾌﾞをしていたら､立派なpulverulentaの木を見つけたのでいきなり写真を撮って紹介してみました！大きな葉は缶ｺｰﾋｰの缶くらいの大きさがあり､新葉は白銀ｴﾒﾗﾙﾄﾞ色のcinereaとはまた違った感じで白銀水色に光り輝き､私のﾊｰﾄを射止めるここのところ私の中で人気急上昇中のﾕｰｶﾘです！私のところで育てているpulverulentaです｡まだまだ小さく可愛らしいのですが､それでも葉はかなり分厚く､他のﾕｰｶﾘと比べても非常にしっかりとしています｡これから大きくなっていくのがとても楽しみですね｡銀世界ﾕｰｶﾘとも呼ばれるこのﾕｰｶﾘは､ﾌﾗﾜｰｱﾚﾝｼﾞでは非常に人気のあるﾕｰｶﾘです｡半ばﾄﾞﾗｲﾌﾗﾜｰ化した切枝を､花屋さんで見かけたことがある人もいるのではないでしょうか？この肉厚な葉は､切枝になっても中々朽ちずに長期間にわたってその形状を保ちます｡大きな特徴は枝を囲むように生える逆ﾊｰﾄ型の肉厚な大葉､そして2枚目の写真でわかるでしょうか？枝の先端の新芽が大きな花の蕾のような形をしています｡もう一つの特徴は､主幹からｷｯﾁﾘ90度の角度で伸びる枝です｡下の写真を見てください｡主幹が中心に通っていて､多くの枝がそれから直角に出ていることがわかります｡この性質がpulverulentaの際立った外観を形作っています｡丸葉ﾕｰｶﾘの多くは､幼いうちは綺麗な丸葉をしていますが､大きく成長するにしたがって､末葉と呼ばれる槍の先ような細葉へと変貌を遂げていきます｡あのcinereaやgunniiも最後は細長い槍型の葉になります｡しかしこのpulverulentaは大きく成長しても丸葉を維持し続けるﾕｰｶﾘなのです｡pulverulentaは比較的日本の気候にも合っており､育てやすいﾕｰｶﾘといえますが､どちらかというと冷涼な地域の方が育てやすく､本来のﾊﾟﾌｫｰﾏﾝｽが出やすくなっています｡用土の過湿には比較的強い耐性を持っているのですが､実際はgunniiなどと比べるとかなり乾燥を好みます｡ただししっかりと根を張った株の場合は､gunniiと同程度の吸水を必要とする場合があります｡葉が分厚くしっかりとしているため､水切れのｻｲﾝがわかりにくいのが玉にきずです｡ただ､比較的乾燥に対する耐性も持ち合わせているため､gunniiやcinereaよりも少し乾燥気味に管理することで､より元気な株に育てることができるでしょう｡露地植えにすると､なかなか立派な樹木へと成長しますが､元々あまり大きく育つ方ではなく､10m程度の潅木型（Mallee)の樹木へと育ちます｡一方鉢植えで育てると､綺麗な樹形を維持するのが中々難しく､徒長してﾋｮﾛ長く育ってしまうことが多いです｡これはpulverulentaがﾕｰｶﾘの中でも特に根のﾃﾞﾘｹｰﾄな品種であることが原因かもしれません｡根張りの良さが､そのまま成長力に直結する品種といえます｡細かい根を縦横無尽に張り巡らすので､植え替え時に植え痛みの起こりやすい品種でもあります｡植え替えや定植の際は根を痛めないよう十分に気をつけてください｡最高樹高はそこまで大きな品種ではありませんので､比較的低樹高の鉢植えでも開花を実現することができます｡実家の庭にある立派なpulverulentaの株が､140cmくらいの樹高で初めて開花をして､そこから毎年開花を続けています｡pulverulentaは非常に美しい銀葉が魅力の品種ですが､開花を目指すことも大きな楽しみになります｡pulverulentaは､gunniiやcinereaに比べると､かなり日光が好きな品種になります｡日陰や日当たりの良くない場所で育てると､いつまでも小さな葉のままで貧弱に育ち､病気にもかかりやすくなります｡できることなら一日中日光の良く当たる環境が推奨です｡日焼け止めの役割を持つ白い粉をたくさん吹いているため､日本の夏の直射日光や西日もものともしません｡ただし､日本の都心部の夏の暑さはあまり得意ではありません｡これは決して暑さだけに弱いというわけではなく､高温に多湿が加わった環境を苦手としています｡この原種のpulverulentaの場合は､高温障害の症状が出ることは稀ですが､できることなら､日光が良く当たり､風通しの良い場所で管理するとより安心です｡ただし､夏の間はあまり成長が進まなくなります｡耐寒性はﾕｰｶﾘの中でも非常に強い方で､-15℃の積雪環境下でも生き残ったという実績があります｡冬季は特に乾燥気味に育てることで耐寒性が増します｡寒い場所でも､安心して育てることができるﾕｰｶﾘです｡気になるpulverulentaのその香りは､cinereaに比べると非常に爽やかで快適な香りが楽しめます｡ｼﾈｵｰﾙやﾐﾝﾄのｽｰｯとした香りをﾍﾞｰｽにｵﾚﾝｼﾞのような柑橘系の香りが非常に強く香ります｡一言でいうとｼﾞｭｰｼｰﾐﾝﾄといった感じの香りです｡精油含有量も非常に豊富で､ｴｱﾌﾚｯｼｭﾅｰなどにもｵｽｽﾒの品種です｡pulverulentaは､ﾕｰｶﾘ中でも香りが強く､ﾄｯﾌﾟｸﾗｽに良い香りのするﾕｰｶﾘです｡pulverulentaが栽培用に販売されていることは非常に稀ですが､興味のある方には素晴らしい農場をご紹介します｡是非､一度育てていただきたい品種です！白銀色に輝く､変わった佇まいのpulverulentaは､近未来的な庭を演出する庭木として､個人的に凄く魅力を感じています！勝手に｡｡｡ですが､将来のﾕｰｶﾘ庭木候補No.1です！ｗ------------------------------＜栽培難易度：Ｂ＞香良さ：★★★★★香強さ：★★★★成長力：★★★要水分：★★★耐過湿：★★★★耐水切：★★耐日陰：★★耐移植：★耐寒性：★★★★★耐暑性：★★耐病虫：★★★------------------------------※Ａ簡単～Ｅ難しい / A+...Aより少し難しい, ﾕｰｶﾘ育成ﾌﾞﾛｸﾞです｡ﾀﾈを輸入して150種以上のﾕｰｶﾘを育てています｡ By eucalyptus_k, 【ユーカリ紹介-05】ﾕｰｶﾘ･ﾌﾟﾙﾍﾞﾙﾚﾝﾀ (Eucalyptus pulverulenta).
